Salt Pendulum Art

What happens when you combine science, art, and kinetic fun? Salt Pendulum Art!

This fun program allows children to engage their creative sides while learning about the science of kinetic energy.

Migration of the Monarch Butterfly

Discovery Station will be hosting "The Monarch Alliance" as they present this educational and hands-on program on the migration of the Monarch Butterfly. LEGO Robots will be incorporated in this program.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

This hands-on activity introduces children to recycling concepts that will help them understand the reasons why it’s important, the positive impact it can have to our environment and how they can make recycling a habit.

Museum Day Live!

In the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums, which offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine in which participating museums across the country open their doors to anyone presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket… for free.

Spiderweb Discovery Bottle

This is a fun activity that puts a spooky twist on sensory bottles!

Children will be invited to make a Halloween themed sensory bottle.

This program is free with the price of admission into the museum.

October 8, 2016 @ 2 p.m.

Egg Drop Challenge

Children are invited to join us for this activity and take the "Egg Drop Challenge".

Children will be split up into eight groups and given the task to design a contraption using various materials to protect a raw egg from a fall.

This activity is great for third through fifth graders.

Oozing Jack-O-Lanterns

Want your jack-o-lanterns to put on a special show for Halloween? Join the mad scientists at Discovery Station as they show you how to get your pumpkins to ooze! Perfect for those of all ages!

Spooky Slime

Visitors of all ages are invited to join the mad scientists at Discovery Station as they make Spooky Slime!

Halloween Mystery Party

Children are invited to come dressed up in their Halloween Costumes and “Trick-or-Treat” through the exhibits for clues to discover during this Halloween Mystery Party!

There will be games and prizes too! Halloween cookies and witches brew will be served in the Café!
