Museum Ramble

Discovery Station will be participating in the Washington County Museum Ramble. This is an opportunity to visit Washington County sites at a self-guided pace throughout the month of May!

As part of our participation, we will open our doors to the public for free and will be giving away a free family membership as the Museum Ramble Prize!

The whacky scientists at Discovery Station are up to it again! This time they are making magnetic slime! Join Discovery Station for this free event!

Modeling Dinosaurs Workshop

Join Discovery Station volunteer Dave Hluchy as he leads this fun, informative class about modeling dinosaurs. This hands-on class is suitable for children of all ages.

Participants will use modeling materials such as air-dry clay, wire, paper and more to create their own dinosaur model.

Space is limited to 20 participants. Please RSVP at (301) 790-0076.

Class Fee is $5.00.

24 Math Game

Children 9+ are invited to participate in Discovery Station's Third 24 Challenge Game Workshop!
This fun game that children love also helps children sharpen basic math skills such as computation, problem solving, number sense, critical thinking, and pattern sensing!
Although this program is free to the public, space is limited to just 20 children. Please RSVP at 301.790.0076.

DNA Extraction Experiment

You've probably learned or heard about DNA, but have you ever seen it? With the Strawberry DNA experiment, you'll extract, isolate, and observe the DNA of a strawberry in a matter of minutes. It sounds impossible, but thanks to special characteristics of strawberries, it's actually very possible… and simple. You don't have to be a geneticist. You don't need a microscope. This program is free and great for ages 12 and up!

Gliding Robot Craft Workshop

In this robot craft, children will color a robot and turn it into a gliding robot toy. This fun activity combines creativity with scientific thinking. Perfect for children ages 6-10!

Hotwheels Fun and Collecting

This fun event is perfect for kids and adults. Visitors are invited to participate in Hot Wheels Racing - both on our Race Car Derby ramp and the traditional orange tracks! Docent Dave Hluchy will be leading this free program!

Geyser Explosion

The mad scientists at Discovery Station are bringing another fun-filled geyser program where kids and adults create their own explosions using Mentos and soda! This time the scientist will also test out their mentos rocket cars!

Hatching Dinosaur Eggs

Visitors of all ages can construct their very own dinosaur egg! This fun and educational activity is guaranteed to bring a smile to any Jurassic lover in your life. This free event is limited to 40 participants!
