Instructions
- Begin this activity by opening the Skittles bags and pouring them onto the paper plate.

- Once your child has separated all of the Skittles by color, go through each set and count the number of Skittles for each color. Have them write that number in the circle.
- Next they should cut out each of the number boxes to the best of their ability. Demonstrate to your child how to follow the lines with their scissor.
- Once the number boxes are all cut out, have them turn over the paper boxes to hide the numbers.
- Have your child select a box and read aloud the number. This number will be the number of Skittles they should then feed the mouth in the “Feed the mouth Skittles'' guide. Have your child count out the correct number of Skittles by placing them on the mouth. Repeat this step with each number box.
- When you've completed this activity (and watched the video above), complete this Exit Ticket Survey so we can gauge your child's understanding of the materials! This is not required but your participation in the survey will qualify you for a free entry in a monthly giveaway contest! Winners will be notified each month if they win! Only one entry per child per survey will be accepted!
- Please email info@discoverystation.org with photos of your participation in the activities!
Bonus Activity!
- Once you’ve finished the activities above, have your child organize the Skittles in a circle around the edge of the paper plate. For added fun, they can create patterns by alternating colors in a sequence around the edge (example: orange, green, purple, yellow, orange, green, purple, yellow, etc.)
- Using the plastic cup, gently pour water into the center of the plate.
- Wait and watch the Skittles colors move towards the center of the plate with beautiful rainbow streaks.
