Eric Carle & Me

This activity introduces children to the colorful world of Eric Carle! With this activity, children can develop the following skills:

gluing and peeling stickers help develop fine motor skills
identifying colors (which colors do they use for their picture frame?)
curiosity (what kinds of insects do we have around our house? What do they do during the day?)
building vocabulary (what would you eat if you were a caterpillar? What do caterpillars turn into?)

Supplies Included in this Kit

Make the caterpillar by gluing the large pompom (head) to the lower-left corner of the frame.
Glue each of the four medium-sized pom poms in a row behind the head to form the caterpillar’s body.
Glue the two small pom poms onto the caterpillar’s head to make the eyes, then glue the googly eyes onto the pompoms.
Decorate the frame with pictures, stickers, or markers.

Extend the Learning:

Have your child draw a picture about the story and use that picture in the frame. Your child can retell the story through his/her art!
Go on a bug hunt outside and talk about how different insects look and different places you might find them.
Check out library books about pollinators and how they help the environment.

Descripción General

Esta actividad introduce a los niños al colorido mundo de Eric Carle. En esta actividad los niños desarrollarán las siguientes destrezas:

Pegar y pelar pegatinas para ayudar a desarrollar destrezas de motor fino.
Identificar colores (¿Que colores utilizarás para pintar el marco de fotos?)

Materiales en el Kit

Instrucciones

Hagan una oruga usando los pompones y comience pegando el pompón más grande en la parte inferior izquierda del marco.
Pegue cada uno de los cuatro (4) pompones medianos en fila para crear el cuerpo de la oruga.
Pegue los dos (2) pompones más pequeños en la cabeza de la oruga para hacer los ojos. Pegue los ojos plásticos sobre los pompones pequeños.
Decore el marco con fotos, pegatinas o marcadores.

Extensión del aprendizaje:

Haga que su hijo dibuje una foto sobre la historia y utilize el dibujo en el marco. Su hijo puede recontar la historia a través de su arte.
Vayan en una caza de insectos y observen en las diferentes áreas donde los pueden encontrar, también hablen de sus diferentes rasgos.
Busquen libros en la biblioteca sobre insectos polinizadores y como ayudan al medio ambiente.
